| Ready, Set, Read literacy grants up to $3,000 are available for family child care providers, nonprofit child care centers, individual library branches and nonprofit community-based organizations to conduct a project that promotes adults reading to babies and children up to age five. $150,000 is available for these grants in the fall. Previous Ready Set Read grant projects have included: - The purchase of Spanish-language children’s books at the Oakley library
- Story telling demonstrations at domestic violence shelters and with teen parents
- Purchase of materials to help preschool children prepare for kindergarten
